Chiko Chinyadza, or better known by his stage name of “Downtown Kayoto”, has brought a fresh and versatile sound with his latest EP, “Learning in public.” This EP offers a wide variety of different styles and moods. Offering a mix of guitar solos combined with heartfelt rap and catchy beats, Kayoto, who orginally comes from Zimbabwe but now lives in Hul, England, shows off his skill as both a rapper and singer, switching seamlessly between different musical styles.

A song that really stands out in this EP is “Poison,” in which Kayoto’s lyrics express vulnerability and regret in the past. These lyrics offer a glimpse into a complex emotional landscape. Lines such as “I’ve let my guard down” and “I felt like poison, The way I spread so slow” convey a sense of self-blame. These lyrics capture the inner turmoil and self-reflection that often accompany moments of personal reckoning. Kayoto invites listeners to connect with his raw and introspective journey through songs like these.
